General Engineer (Recent Graduate), GS-0801-07/09 Duties: As a General Engineer (Recent Graduate) will be responsible for, the following: Assisting in the design and development of combat service support systems and equipment using established criteria or specifications. Monitoring the testing of Prototype systems, components and ancillary equipment and reviewing the test results to ensure proper functionality. Identifying engineering problems and recommending corrective action. Reviewing technical data related to engineering projects, preparing design documentation, computations, and reviewing data submittals.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: To qualify at the GS-07 grade level: To qualify, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (GS-05). Specialized] experience is defined as: 1) performing routine engineering tasks to assist higher level employees; 2) use various software packages to collect, review, analyze, and disseminate data ;and 3) review regulations to determine applicability to work being performed. To qualify at the GS-09 grade level: may qualify based on specialized experience, education OR a combination of education and experience. To qualify based on experience, must possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service doing the following duties: 1) performing routine engineering tasks to assist higher level employees; 2) use various software packages to collect, review, analyze, and disseminate data; and 3) prepare reports of test project results. Education Substitution for the GS-07: (A)Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement or 1 academic year of graduate education directly related to the position being filled (or law school, as specified in qualification standards or individual occupational requirements). Superior Academic Achievement: S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership OR (B)Have some specialized experience as described above, but less than 1 year; and have some of the education described in A above. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide total months of qualifying specialized experience by 12. Then divide semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify). Education Substitution for the GS-09: (A) Have2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. (Note: must attach a copy of transcripts.) OR (B)Have some specialized experience as described above, but less than one (1) year; and have less than the two full years of graduate education as described in A above. Compute the percentage of the requirements that meet, and the total is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide semester hours of graduate education by 36. Add the two percentages.
