Labor Relations Counsel The candidate will work directly with and support the Vice President of Labor Relations and the Labor Relations Directors in preparing for negotiations and acting as a resource in administering company's 10 collective bargaining agreements. Partner with and provide guidance and support to Vice President and Labor Relations Directors in contract administration and contract negotiations. Assist Vice President of Labor Relations in preparing for negotiations, including analyzing, costing, and developing proposals. Provide guidance and support on the interpretation and application of ten (10) collective bargaining agreements, the NLRA, company HR policies, and practices as it relates to 1700 organized employees. Advise Labor relations Directors and employee relations managers on all labor related matters, including, compliance with the NLRA, progressive discipline, and other operational issues. Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and labor laws. Assist in preparing for grievances and arbitration as necessary. Review, assess, and investigate contractual grievances and other labor-related complaints in a proactive results-oriented manner. Work proactively to resolve issues through mediation and negotiation. Provide support in arbitration. Prepare and interpret data analysis to support the labor relations function, contract negotiations, and to identify problem areas. Assist In the development and implementation of strategic organizational changes (e.g. Centralization of functions and realignment and standardization of work and work rules). Direct involvement in other projects as may be assigned by the Vice President of Labor Relations.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have J.D. degree from an accredited law school and 5-7 years of experience in Labor and Employment Law. Union-side experiences a plus. Must have excellent analytic, research, and investigation skills. Should have excellent contract interpretation skills and a general knowledge of HR issues with a tactical, hands-on approach. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within and outside the organization is needed. Superior written and oral communication skills and computer proficiency are required. Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state employment and labor laws is needed.
