Global Trades Director The candidate leads the global trade organization of Automation and Control Solutions; develops and leads the execution of global trade strategy; and serves as the primary advisor to the ACS business on all international trade matters. Reports directly to the VP, Automation and Control Solutions Logistics and indirectly to the General Counsel. Ensures compliance with international trade laws through the implementation of internal controls and the establishment of day-to-day procedures. Establishes and executes global trade strategy for Automation and Control Solutions. Directs international trade compliance organization globally, including department management and budget oversigh. Aligns with Automation and Control Solutions General Counsel on government controlled products export activities and strategy. Mitigates the risk of non-compliance by setting disclosure strategy through monitoring and self-audits. Supports productivity and business operations by driving duty reduction strategy. Promotes growth through the elimination of regulatory barriers to sales; the decontrol and licensing of company products; and transactional advice. Serves as external focal point for Automation and Control Solutions business and Supply Chain leadership with appropriate government agencies, trade associations and represents Automation and Control Solutions trade compliance in relevant company organization. Responds to inquiries and challenges from various government agencies. Partners with Acquisitions Leadership in investigation of potential targets (due diligence efforts) and integration of newly acquired companies in the assessment of trade compliance. Establishes and maintains relationships with appropriate business stakeholders. Monitors regulatory changes related to international trade and provides counsel regarding impact of changes; participates in rule making process as needed. Coordinates with other functional groups such as tax, internal audit and sourcing to maximize duty savings and minimize duty exposure.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor degree in international business or related field. Must have Master’s degree (MBA) or J.D. degree with customs Broker License. Should have 10 years work experience in international trade. Must have 7 years experience and knowledge of U.S. and other countries trade laws. Should have 7 years experience and knowledge of Customs Regulations pertaining to all aspects of imports and exports such as HTS classification, country of origin determination, valuation of products and repairs, documentation, Trade Agreements, C-TPAT / AEO and other programs, Sale and Shipping Terms (Incoterms), record keeping, trade sanctions, and other agencies requirements. Expatriate experience is required. Must have experience in leading and managing an international trade team with multi-national participation. Experience in international trade at a global company is needed. Experience in external forums such as trade associations and government advisory committees is needed with past success working across global matrixed organization.
