Patent Attorney The candidate provides legal services and advice while working closely with the business to support growth in electrified products, including batteries, motors, controllers and generators. Prepare and file provisional and design patent applications on Company inventions. Manage patent preparation and prosecution by outside counsel on domestic and international patent applications. Provides legal review and advice regarding various Company agreements. Manages the protection and enforcement of legal rights in respect of Company assets, including development of related documentation and filings. Leads or supports, as needed, meetings of internal committees related to assigned area(s) of responsibility. Acts as a legal resource to various internal departments as needed. Provides relevant training to employees in the businesses. Develops relevant Legal Department processes and practices relating to assigned area(s) of responsibilities. Performs other duties as assigned. Should have Juris Doctor from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association. Must be admitted to practice law in the State of Wisconsin or another state. Should admitted to practice before US Patent Office. Must have Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or similar. 3 years experience as an attorney (or equivalent substitute experience) in a firm or corporate setting required. Must have demonstrated knowledge and ability to provide prompt, practical counsel and creative solutions in all areas of responsibility while minimizing risk. Should have ability to identify changes in law and oversee compliance, propose guideline and practice changes, and effectively educate and train internal clients. Must have solid computer skills including extensive knowledge of specialized software related to assigned area(s) of responsibility.
