Palo Alto office of an AmLaw firm seeks intellectual property attorney with 2-3 years of patent-litigation experience. The candidate will be participating in underlying case analysis. Will be conducting factual and legal research; drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests. Dealing with procedural matters; and assisting in deposition and hearing preparation. Serving patent litigation in U.S. district court and post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board at the USPTO. Preparing and filing complaints, answers, and counterclaims and conducting associated pre-filing analysis. Drafting discovery requests and responses and participating in discovery on infringement, validity, and damages issues, including expert discovery; analyzing and understanding complex technical subject matter in patents and relevant prior art. Conducting searches for and analyzing prior art to invalidate patent claims. Conducting legal research for and drafting discovery and dispositive motions and claim-construction briefs. Must have an undergraduate or advanced degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or computer engineering or an equivalent technical degree. Should have a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) registration number or be qualified to take the USPTO?s registration examination.
