Senior Counsel – Patents Candidate will be responsible for patent procurement across a variety of therapeutic areas and addressing global patent issues regarding certain programs or products. The work includes patent application preparation and prosecution, client counseling, and rendering legal opinions in relation to patentability, validity, and freedom to operate. Other responsibilities include conducting due diligence IP reviews and assisting in IP transactional work. Collaborate with other company's attorneys, both IP and general, as well as outside attorneys, worldwide, to accomplish the objectives of the company’s Intellectual Property Department.
Qualification and Experience
Candidate should have 7+ years of patent attorney experience in pharmaceutical and chemical arts, as well as a Ph.D. or other strong academic credentials including a background in organic chemistry. Some biotech patent filing and prosecution experience is desired. Candidate must be registered to practice before the USPTO and should be licensed to practice law in either New Jersey or Connecticut, depending on the job location, or be eligible to obtain a limited license for in-house counsel.
