Content Licensing Attorney Duties: Will work closely with the distribution, marketing, technology, product and finance teams. Contribute in other key matters relating to the business, including original productions, marketing, corporate, tech licensing, sales, NDAs and other agreements.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A Juris Doctorate degree from a top tier law school. 10-15 years of total legal experience. 3-5 years at a nationally-recognized law firm as an associate or partner focusing on corporate transactions (M&A, finance, securities). 5-7 years of experience at an online video distributor, television network/studio or cable/satellite company (or comparable law firm partner experience representing clients in either content licensing or technology transactions/similar fields). A very strong understanding of technology, consumer electronics and the internet is highly preferred. A seasoned attorney with content licensing experience who has a strong understanding of the broadcast and cable television industry, including knowledge about content availability windows, exclusivity, distribution rights, content security and the range of other terms typically negotiated in VOD licensing agreements. Candidates who began their careers in the corporate department of a nationally-recognized law firm doing M&A deals, public and private securities offerings and other complex corporate transactions will be highly preferred. Superior analytical, negotiating and drafting skills are of paramount importance. Candidates who have a wide network of business and legal contacts in the broadcast and cable television industry are also preferred.
