Patent Attorney Candidate will closely work with and support firm’s engineering and business groups globally. Will evaluate invention disclosure submissions, draft original patent applications and office action responses, and review applications and responses prepared by outside counsel. Manage patent portfolio and conduct various patent analyses such as product clearance, prior art search, infringement, invalidity, and landscape analysis. Draft and file at USPTO about 10 original patent applications annually. Prosecute pending applications including drafting office action responses. Review applications and responses prepared by outside counsel. Provide instructions to foreign associates. Evaluate granted patents and pending applications based on changing business needs. Support IP litigation and licensing matters including creating claim charts. Conduct product clearance. Conduct IP training to firm’s employees.
Qualification and Experience
Candidate should have BS degree in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or mechanical engineering. JD degree and USPTO registration is essential. Admission to at least one State Bar is essential. 5+ years of engineering experience in a related field is essential. 5+ years of experience as a patent agent/attorney in drafting and prosecuting US patent applications, preferably drafting at least 50 original US utility applications is needed. Should be familiar with PCT and EPO procedures. IPR, trademark, patent litigation and licensing experience is preferred.
