Specialist, Intellectual Property The candidate will support the Intellectual Property Group on matters involving all aspects of promotions, and provide assistance and advice on IP related matters. Will evaluate proposed promotions for compliance with relevant laws and rules. Provide advice regarding initial promotion proposals. Draft and review sweepstakes, contest and game rules, and prepare releases, submission guidelines, online voting rules, and on-air, online and print disclaimers. Negotiate and draft promotion related agreements including co-promotion, sponsorship, indemnification, and prize provider agreements with third party advertisers and promotion partners. Support promotions group generally, including client training on promotions forms and flagging issues, maintaining accurate records of promotion work for tracking purposes. Draft and respond to IP claim letters. Research and evaluate IP issues associated with content clearance matters. Draft license agreements, permissions and other short form documents.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience in an intellectual property practice OR a J.D. degree. Paralegal or comparable experience is preferred. Knowledge of contest and sweepstakes federal and state laws and regulation of promotions and advertising is desired. Familiarity with trademark and copyright law is preferred. Should have willingness to work overtime, and on weekends with short notice.
