Trademark Attorney The candidate will join global Trademarks and Copyrights leadership team. Will help manage company’s global trademark portfolio, including conducting U.S. and international trademark clearance, prosecution, conflicts and licensing work in-house, providing counseling to internal clients regarding trademark, copyright and domain name issues, and reviewing and preparing trademark licenses and other agreements. The role will be responsible for helping to lead the team on portfolio management and strategic practice planning, including in connection with company’s upcoming corporate reorganization.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, Bar qualification. Direct experience conducting and managing complex global trademark portfolio management, trademark counseling, and trademark licensing is required. Should have 8-10+ years of trademark specific experience, including both IP/trademark law firm and also in-house trademark experience on an in-house team that does a substantial amount of its work in-house. Must have extensive and sophisticated experience doing U.S. and international portfolio management, clearance, prosecution, enforcement, oppositions, cancellations, disputes experience, trademark licensing, copyright, domain name, and internet issues work. Should be strong team player with excellent collaborative and influencing skills, and experience in building teams within and across functions. Should have excellent leadership and people management skills, including performance management, problem solving, and evaluation. Must have leadership skills including managing staff, team building and strategic practice management. Should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to deliver executive level presentations and an ability to successfully interact with a wide variety of clients, business partners, competitors and others. Must have recognized authority on practical and academic knowledge in the specific legal concentration, and broad internal recognition as a subject matter expert and thought leader in one or more sub-areas within a specific legal concentration. Should have advanced understanding of how to operate successfully in the international legal environment for a specific legal concentration. Must have mastery in negotiating or advising the most senior representatives of external and internal organizations on highly complex, high impact legal matters within a specialty. Excellent presentation, facilitation, networking, and influence skills are required.
