Intellectual Property (IP) Counsel Duties: Supporting vast US and international patent and trademark portfolios, conducting IP clearance, and assisting outside counsel with respect to other IP matters. Will be providing guidance and training on IP issues. Will report to the Senior Intellectual Property Counsel.. Provide counsel with respect to patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and USPTO proceedings. Work with research and development and product development teams to identify and protect Berry’s innovations. Provide patentability and landscape searching for new product developments. File and prosecute US and international patent and trademark applications. Perform IP portfolio reviews. Conduct IP clearance. Identify and establish trade secret protocols. Assist in IP litigation.
Qualification and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: JD Degree from ABA-approved law school and license to practice before the USPTO. 2+ years’ experience in handling IP matters, preferably with a large firm or major corporation. Experience with patent and trademark preparation, prosecution, and clearance. Technical background and knowledge in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials, Plastics, and/or Manufacturing. Proven experience identifying and protecting technologies and/or products. Solid leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, research and development teams, and outside counsel.
