Patent Attorney The candidate with both law firm and in-house experience, with a background in software or computer engineering to join a dynamic legal department within a fast moving, growth company based in Austin, Texas office. Duties and Responsibilities includes; Interact and coordinate with business units on product development and patent matters. Conduct patent infringement, validity, freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses. Draft and prosecute patent applications. Manage outside U.S. and foreign counsel with regard to drafting, filing, prosecution, and opinion work. Conduct due diligence evaluations for potential acquisition. Draft joint development, licensing, and other technology related agreements. Assist in negotiations to resolve patent disputes with third parties. Provide litigation oversight and support as necessary.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical , Computer, Biomedical or Mechanical) with 4-6 years of experience primarily focused on patent prosecution and opinion work with exposure to patent litigation and patent acquisition strategies. Mix of law firm and in-house experience preferred. Willingness to focus on patent drafting. Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Admitted to practice law in at least one State. Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
