Corporate Counsel The candidate will support company's expanding digital and device businesses in Japan. Will advise on cutting-edge business initiatives, negotiate and advise on various matters from content licensing contracts to complex, high-dollar value transactions; provide day-to-day business law counseling; resolve legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and pre-litigation disputes and inquiries; and advise on regulatory and government compliance issues. Will also be expected to participate in other legal projects as directed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a Law degree with honors (J.D. or equivalent) from a leading university and law school. Should be licensed to practice law in Japan and/or US or other common law jurisdiction. Must have 5+ years of legal experience (with several years of experience at a leading global law firm and/or in-house at a major multinational corporation). Should preferably have a strong transactional and project management experience. Experience with copyright issues arising out of digital business is preferred. Experience with regulatory compliance issues relating to device business is desired. In-house experience at a device manufacturer, technology or e-commerce company an asset.
