Vice President of Intellectual Property Licensing and Business Development Duties: Responsible for revenue and P&L for intellectual property licensing at Immersion. Collaborate with Immersion’s executive management on all intellectual property licensing elements of Immersion’s hybrid (software and intellectual property) business strategy. Develop stand-alone intellectual property offerings and pricing. Identify and capture potential intellectual property licensing opportunities. Lead and support origination, negotiation and execution of patent licensing agreements and patent acquisition and sale transactions with third parties. Provide commercial advice and counseling to the Immersion’s executive management, business functions and the legal team on all aspects of intellectual property licensing. Work closely with Immersion’s sales organization to support all hybrid (software and intellectual property) offerings to Immersion’s software customers as well as develop an integrated monetization strategy and go to market plan.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: An excellent educational background to degree level or beyond in Engineering, Business or Law; MBA and/or JD Degree is highly desired. 10+ years of intellectual property licensing experience. Experience with business development in a sophisticated global matrix organization. Experience in market definition and assessment, including evaluating financial impact of strategic decisions. Experience with licensing and deal creation, business plan development, contract negotiation, and external relationship management. An experienced and high caliber Vice President of Intellectual Property Licensing and Business Development to formulate and execute Immersion’s intellectual property licensing strategy. Budget and planning skills. Strategic planning skills. A proven and successful track record in concluding significant licensing contracts. Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority, including influencing at executive level. Collaborative team player who enjoys working closely with other departments to create tightly integrated strategies.
