ProfileAssistant General Counsel Duties: Works directly with the General Counsel and will be responsible for completing a variety of routine and non-routine legal assignments and intermediate level projects independently and using professional legal concepts and principles in accordance with company and departmental objectives to solve challenging or legal issues in practical ways. Additionally, provides operational management duties of the legal department to include supervision of legal staff. Provides legal counsel and assistance to all corporate affiliates and subsidiary, departments regarding the conduct of relations with state and federal agencies having a legal impact on the operations of the company including all Health Alliance staff, vendors and outside counsel.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification Requirements: A Juris Doctorate degree. License to practice law in Illinois. 7-10 years of working as in-house counsel with a health insurance plan; or outside counsel work with a health insurance plan. Specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure; or any combination of education and experience; which would provide an equivalent background. Health insurance or managed care experience is strongly preferred. Ability to develop and maintain a highly accountable team through a positive work environment implementing the organization's Behavior Standards. Ability to think analytically and to communicate complex issues effectively and efficiently in both verbal and written formats. Ability to effectively assist in prioritizing, managing and delegating all levels of legal activities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
