Profile

Principle Return Actuary Duties: Grow revenue by working individually and with colleagues to sell Wealth Practice services, including recurring and special projects, to both current and new logo clients. Manage consulting relationships profitably while achieving a high level of client retention and appropriate levels of growth (through existing and new client relationships).Develop and adhere to schedules and budgets resulting in on-time, profitable projects. Meet the financial reporting requirements of the firm. Implement best practices and standardized procedures to ensure maximum realization, including ensuring that work is done by the most junior staff available, to competently deliver a product of appropriately high quality. Identify client needs and opportunities to introduce or cross-sell Buck and Xerox products and services. Take proactive measures to work with colleagues within and outside the Wealth practice, to understand their clients’ needs in these, develop strategies for bringing these ideas to clients, and actively participating in meetings with these clients. Complete RFP’s with centralized support and represent Buck at Finalist Presentations as required. Contribute to firm’s thought leadership initiatives, promote visibility of Buck and develop contacts through speaking engagements, publications and other participation in industry and professional associations. Represent Buck and Xerox by developing content for and speaking at sessions at professional meetings, trade shows and other third-party events, as well as firm-sponsored client events. Deliver Comprehensive services in the areas of: Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution retirement plan design, helping clients understand the impact of providing these benefit programs on the client’s financials, employee motivation/retention and risk profile for their current and alternative plan designs. Significant experience with both qualified and nonqualified programs. Funding policy design for Defined Benefit plans. Actuarial valuation and financial disclosure services, including management of processes and quality control, communicating results to clients and meeting with clients to articulate impact of results on all stakeholders (plan participants, shareholders, management, plan fiduciaries etc.). Compliance issues, such as nondiscrimination testing, and other rules & regulations applicable to qualified pension plans. Pension endgame strategies and various de-risking strategies. Services include financial analysis, plan design, implementation and administration, as well as communication to plan participants. Demonstrate ability to be regarded as a Trusted Advisor, developing and implementing creative and strategic solutions to meet client needs. Demonstrate ability to articulate complex concepts. Lead client meetings to gather information, establish needs, clarify expectations, develop strategy and obtain feedback. Demonstrate ability to recognize upcoming client issues. Demonstrate excellent analytical skills and problem-solving savvy. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with C-suite level decision makers at client. Assist in interviewing, recruiting and hiring high quality staff. Mentor and train staff, continually focusing on developmental opportunities. Conduct meaningful performance appraisals of direct reports. Take appropriate action, when necessary. Lead a highly efficient staff with high chargeable time. Educate colleagues both inside and outside the Wealth Practice, including ongoing formal and casual training, attendance at and speaking at Lunch and Learn training session.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. At least one of the following accreditations or degrees: Actuarial accreditations; FSA preferred; CFA; J.D. Degree; MBA. 15 years of relevant consulting experience. Experienced Account Executive in HR/benefits consulting firms. Strong relationship skills and business development skills---able to project confidence and leadership in meetings and client management.
