Counsel The candidate will work closely with the General Counsel and Chief Underwriting Counsel as core members of the legal and underwriting team. Will also have direct exposure and interaction with the CEO and other members of the senior management team. Order abstracts of title. Identify potential issues based on the results of the title search and work with search vendors to obtain follow-up information. Provide legal or transactional advice to client's attorneys. Prepare a title insurance commitment. Work directly with all parties to a transaction — buyers, sellers, borrowers, their attorneys, loan officers, etc. Clear the issues identified on the title insurance commitment. Act as Title Officer during the closing, oftentimes telephonically. Prepare the final title insurance policy. Must have 1-3 years of experience in the title insurance industry with 'title reading' experience highly preferred. A strong candidate with other real estate/mortgage lending-related experience and/or coursework that shows a keen interest and aptitude for the subject will also be considered. Caselaw research and Shepardization are helpful skills.
