Senior Coverage Litigation Attorney Duties: Provides full or specialized legal services to one or more departments with internal clients. Work assignments consist of major legal tasks involving issues/litigation with the highest degree of difficulty for which considerable legal judgment, experience and independent reasoning are required. Provides guidance to management to identify effective strategies for handling complex claims and inform when changes in the law occur. Handles high exposure, complex and/or specialized cases. Litigates cases including court appearances, motions, discovery , negotiations trial, and appeal. Provides research, legal and information analysis, factual information, counsel and guidance on legal questions or issues. Prepares position papers on various legal issues and interpretation of contractual provisions. Works closely with internal clients while resolving legal issues. Works in resolving legal cases with minimal supervision.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with JD, and admission to the bar of at least one state. 7+ years of claims and/or law firm experience with a proven track record of results. 5+ years related litigation/trial experience or minimum of 5 years of specialization experience. Senior level advanced knowledge of insurance coverage and familiarity with the theories, principles, practices and procedures of litigation management within an insurance organization. Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation and presentation skills. Excellent negotiation, consultative and facilitation skills with the ability to effectively interact with all internal and external business partners. Ability to exercise independent judgment, and to work with and maintain confidential and sensitive information. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, and senior level skill in managing ambiguous situations and issues. Proven ability to take a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives in order to achieve strategic business results.
