Counsel, Cloud and Open Source Duties: Focus on cloud and open source technology. Provide legal support for the Cloud organization, including, the new portfolio of cloud products and services; Public Cloud; private cloud; the worldwide Cloud Go-to-Market organization supporting customer-facing transactions for private, managed and public cloud: and the Network Functions Virtualization organization providing alternative design approaches for complex information technology applications in telecommunications. Provide legal counseling and business partnering on the use of open source software in products and services, advising business leaders and engineering and product teams on compliance with open source licensing obligations. Provide guidance on governance and contribution models for the creation of new open source projects led and help implement open source strategy.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: J.D. degree and Bar qualifications; 2-5 years of transactional legal experience with an emphasis on technology licensing, including the drafting and negotiation of software and technology licenses and development agreements, as well as experience with new product introductions, including intellectual property due diligence, creation of new licensing models and go-to-market initiatives, and development of partner programs . Top quality law firm experience and training in technology transactions. Previous experience with open source technologies and/or cloud; and a technical degree and technical background. Demonstrated success in an IP licensing environment; excellent contract negotiation and contract drafting skills; ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, both orally and in writing, internally to legal colleagues and business clients and externally to customers and business partners; strong presentation and organizational skills; superior business partnering abilities and business acumen; solid foundation in IP law; genuine passion for technology and innovation and a strong work ethic; team player who works well in a collaborative environment; and flexibility to adapt to changes and new and different challenges in a fast-paced, start-up cloud environment.
