ProfileSenior Dynamics & Control Engineer Duties: Work on projects ranging from engineering design to problem resolution to research and development of complex engineering control systems that utilize electrical, mechanical, optical, software, and/or hardware components. Parameter data-base construction, validation and maintenance, development and review of calibration and operation procedures, studies of new proposed operating modes and capabilities, and finite element based solution techniques. Mathematical analysis, a capacity for rapidly mastering new and complex systems and an exceptional capacity for attention to detail are highly desirable attributes in a candidate. Rapidly and accurately develop mathematical models of complex systems and develop, document and verify software that permits rapid analysis of those systems. Work closely with other members of the team, proactively assisting them as needed with their analyses or problems. Identifying and addressing open technical issues or gaps, both within the candidate’s immediate technical area as well as the broader project area. Study the basic design concepts and methods of approach proposed by other engineering personnel and propose improvements or modifications to the basic design concepts and layouts. Analyze engineering plans and projects to conduct experimental tests to establish data as the basis for controls design or to validate control design performance. Prepare progress reports relating to assignments as required. Prepare specifications and design parameters for equipment to be designed and/or built by subcontractors.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: 10+ years with BS/BA (Bachelors) or equivalent. Preferred: 3 years with PhD, JD Degree, 4+ years with MS/MA/MBA (Masters). 8+ years of experience in structural dynamics and mechanical control system design/analysis/test. Proficiency in the use of Matlab/Simulink software for the analysis and modeling of both linear and nonlinear systems. Should have extensive technical expertise in one or more of the following technical areas: Structural dynamics and mechanism controls, Attitude estimation, Calibration, Flight software development.
