Cloud Engineer The candidate will work with our team designing and deploying a modern cloud environment supporting US Strategic Air Command (USSTRATCOM). Will be responsible for providing engineering support for cloud services such as software or infrastructure as a service (SaaS or IaaS, respectively). Support shall include planning, design, installation support management and maintenance on complex distributed networks with multiple classification enclaves and integrated with DoD C2 systems utilizing associated information assurance processes/procedures. Responsible for transforming high-level/low-level enterprise design artifacts into a working, representative test system within a lab environment, developing pass/fail criteria, performing controlled testing, capturing and analyzing results, optimizing system performance, and troubleshooting anomalies. Work closely with Government engineers during all stages of testing and be responsible for working with other enterprise disciplines as previously-tested component systems are later integrated into larger, enterprise-level systems of systems. Customer-facing position and may require interaction with senior customer leadership on matters concerning design, engineering, or functional areas. Provide Cloud engineering input to the Installation Design Plan (IDP) to support procurement, configuration management, and certification and accreditation of proposed systems. Developing functional process diagrams for Cloud services. Provide engineering and installation support focusing on the design, implementation and maintenance of Cloud services (e.g., SaaS, IaaS, others). Researching and analyzing emerging Cloud technologies, techniques, and protocols and making recommendations. Assisting with procurement of hardware, software, and services. Supporting the installation of new Cloud technology components, if required.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelors degree and 9+ years of experience; Masters and 7+ years or more experience ; PhD or JD and 4+ years of experience. Must possess a VMWare Certified Professional VMWare6 (VCP6-CMA) or VMWare Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP-CMA) (Cloud Management Automation) or equivalent/higher certification. Must possess an active DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program certification at information assurance technical level II (IAT II; CompTIA Security+ or equivalent) and the respective network and computing environment certification. Must possess 5+ years of demonstrated advanced, hands-on, Cloud engineering experience supporting the design, installation, configuration, development, integration, implementation, and testing of Cloud services (primarily SaaS and IaaS) in a complex environment with multiple classification enclaves and integrated with DoD C2 systems utilizing associated information assurance processes/procedures. Must possess demonstrated Cloud engineering experience supporting and troubleshooting Cloud technology, server, and hosted application (i.e., both physical/virtual) issues reported through monitoring or customer submittals. Must possess demonstrated familiarity with Enterprise IT environments (data center, computing, storage, SAN, Cloud, network, security, backup/recovery, COOP, replication, policies and procedures). Must possess demonstrated SAN engineering experience in the development and refinement of processes and procedures to ensure efficient, repeatable and effective monitoring and troubleshooting of data center storage technologies. Must possess demonstrated experience with Operations support within an ITIL Service Operations management framework, including use of Service Now or Remedy service management tools. Must possess demonstrated experience with IT service management best practices such as change, problem, incident, configuration and service level management. Must possess advanced interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively, self-awareness, and excellent written and oral communications. Skills: Virtual desktops, storage environments and remote desktop solutions; VMware ESXi 5.x/6, vCenter, vRealize operations, vRealize Orchastrator; Datacenter automation for deployment of Virtual and Physical server assets; Integration with help desk ticketing systems; Powershell, Perl & C++; Securing virtual machines and disaster recovery planning; API’s (REST), orchestration and automation; Applying Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
