Intellectual Property & Technology Associate The candidate will handle junior-to-mid level work such as legal research; crafting pleadings, motions and related documents; preparing or help in preparing requests for IPRs, PGRs and/or CBM Patent Examinations; discovery; depositions (taking and defending); hearings and other court appearances; client communications; supervision of paralegals and more junior lawyers; and the like. Will include preparing and prosecuting patent applications; opinions and other advice letters to clients; due diligence support; and occasional input into or help with transaction documents (e.g., licenses).
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree or equivalent. Admission to practice and in good standing in the Ohio State Bar (admitted or admission pending). An undergraduate degree or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar arts . Admission to practice and in good standing in the PTO strongly preferred. 2+ years’ experience practicing patent law, preferably with litigation experience. Industry experience and/or experience drafting patent-related documents helpful. Excellent research and organizational skills; strong verbal and written communication abilities. A self-starter with the ability to prioritize workload with competing demands, display good judgment and work well under pressure. Must be capable of working (and frankly enjoy working) in a collaborative, congenial environment. Proven ability to independently manage matters, or meaningful segments of large/complex matters, and to move it forward.
