Immigration Services Coordinator Duties: Responsible for managing the Legal Immigration Services Program caseload, supervising all casework, and contributing to program development. Oversees work of interns, and volunteers and provides in-house training, institutes efforts to strengthen program policies and procedures, provides legal assistance to clients, maintains documentation of services provided to clients, compiles and reviews case files, provides follow up on the status of applications filed on behalf of clients, and represents clients before USCIS. Coordinates and manages all aspects of legal immigration services provided to clients by Legal Immigration program interns/volunteers in the Greensboro office, including oversight of the Citizenship & Integration Grant Program; Recruits, trains, and supervises all legal service interns; Manages and completes cases, from start to finish, for an immigration caseload, including preparing and filing appropriate pleadings and motions; Provide direct legal representation to refugees and low-income immigrants including: N-400 (Naturalization), N-648 (Waiver), I-485 (Adjustment of Status), I-765 (Employment Authorization), N-600 (Certificate of Citizenship), I-131 (travel document), I-90 green card renewal); Develop and manage caseload management model that maximizes on efficiency and ensures expedient services to the most vulnerable cases; Establish and maintain quality control measures that ensure accurate and timely submission of all application materials; Maintain meticulous case file documentation; Work together with Education Coordinator to ensure appropriate progress toward goals under USCIS Citizenship Grant; Collaborate with Education Coordinator and Office Director to prepare timely accurate reports for USCIS funding requirements; Submit monthly financial earnings and statements and work closely with Office Director to develop strategies for financial stewardship; Conduct educational outreach as necessary; Collaborate with other local and statewide service providers, representing at state immigration sub-committee meetings and local coalition initiatives; Attend trainings as necessary to maintain abreast of relevant immigration law; Stay abreast of relevant state and national legislative actions relevant to immigration laws that impact target community, advocating as appropriate on behalf of immigrant rights. Advocates on behalf of refugees and immigrants and voluntary agencies serving those populations; Attends local and national Immigration Legal Services conferences as instructed by the Director to obtain/maintain accreditation with the Board of Immigration Appeals or active status/CLE in state bar; Raise awareness about immigration and refugee issues and increases IRP/Greensboro’s visibility in the community through speaking engagements; Represents in meetings and in interactions with other agencies; Assists Office Director in any related duties s/he deems necessary. Undertakes other duties as assigned; Work varied hours.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. JD Degree preferred. Familiarity with US immigration issues and terminology and with DHS documentation as it relates to refugees, Cuban/Haitian Entrants, parolees, asylees, and other immigrants. Entry level experience and knowledge of immigration law required (experience from law school immigration clinic or immigration legal internship will suffice to meet this requirement). Knowledge of the U.S. Refugee Program desired. Experience as a BIA accredited representative or immigration attorney required. Ability to work in a multicultural environment required. Must demonstrate high level or organization, creativity, and initiative; must be able to handle multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously. Proficiency in Spanish, Arabic, or another language is desired. Fluency in English is required. Must be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word and Access) and internet applications. Experience with Cerenade Eimmigration Air is preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills are required.
