Part-Time Staff Attorney The candidate reports to: Director and Managing Attorney of the Immigration Legal Services Program. Provides direct legal services to immigrants and their families, and conducts outreach and education throughout the state, with the supervision and support of the Director and Managing Attorney. Provide confidential legal consultations and conduct initial assessments on immigration cases to determine eligibility for immigration benefits. Counsel and assist immigrants and their families with various applications for immigration benefits, including to, naturalization, family reunification petitions, victims of trafficking and other serious crimes seeking U visas, T visas and/or relief under VAWA, and adjustment of status. Complete case related applications and petitions, supporting paperwork, and professional documentation of services. Carefully monitor and maintain electronic and paper files for each client and case, according to IICONN guidelines, as part of an organized case load. Stay abreast of changes in immigration policy and laws and attend required in-service trainings. Plan, coordinate, and present at outreach and training events to the community, for which some travel and work on evenings and weekends may be required. should have J.D. or LL.M from accredited law school and current bar membership in good standing to practice law in any of the United States. Must have 3 years of immigration legal practice experience. Must have experience working with low-income immigrant populations and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or other survivors of trauma. Must have commitment to the agency’s core values and mission to assist immigrants and their families..
