ProfileHomeland Security Analyst (Immigration, Customs, and Border Security Operations) Duties: Work on multi-disciplinary teams with research leaders, applying quantitative and qualitative skills to analyze policy problems of national and international importance, and communicate the results of these analyses to decision-makers. Work on Homeland Security projects will be required to submit to a background investigation to ascertain Fitness for homeland security related work. Fitness investigations are conducted by the Department of Homeland Security agency that requires the background investigation and is the responsible body for the final fitness determination.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: MA/MS in Public Administration, Criminology, or a related field, or a JD Degree. should have 2+ years of relevant professional experience in law enforcement or regulatory enforcement, or related research areas. Direct experience with either the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service, US Secret Service, Transportation Security Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Drug Enforcement Agency, or other major law enforcement organization is strongly preferred. Extensive knowledge and demonstrable ability to analyze or implement policies involving strategy, doctrine, operations, tactics, new technologies, or organization related to immigration, customs enforcement, and/or border security, with a strong understanding of the law enforcement elements of these missions. Excellent analytic skills; the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team; and a strong commitment to core values of quality and objectivity.
