Corporate Compliance Officer Duties: Oversees the organization's Compliance Program as it relates to the Roper St. Francis Healthcare. Functions through an objective process of monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating compliance issues/concerns as well as developing and implementing the necessary procedures for preventing them. Oversees a team of compliance personnel to achieve consistently high levels of compliance while supporting the growth of the system. Manages the schedules, workflow, education, training, productivity, and morale of this staff, as well as all other administrative functions, and indirectly manages and oversees managers and service line directors in their roles as Functional Compliance Officers. By serving as an independent and objective agent, will monitor, review, evaluate, and resolve compliance questions and concerns and applicable rules and regulations. Conducts an annual risk assessment which is used as the basis for the annual compliance plan; resolves allegations of non-compliance; develops and administers on-going compliance education; conducts and/or oversees auditing and monitoring of activities which pose compliance risks to RSFH; maintains a compliance database for all activities conducted by the department; researches and responds to compliance related questions; stays abreast of and communicates changes to applicable regulations; develops and oversees the annual functional compliance officers and their respective workplans; facilitates and responds to any third-party investigations; and provides reports to the necessary Boards, Committees, and Leadership.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Masters, MBA, MHA, JD Degree or other relevant post graduate degree. Must have or be willing to achieve and maintain a certification in healthcare compliance (CHC) and/or relevant coding certification(s) (CPC). 7 years health care experience or other relevant experience, with roles of responsibility in leadership, legal, compliance, management, regulatory agencies, auditing, or related consulting fields. Proven managerial skills, effective communication (written and oral) ability, and analytical skills required. RSFH experience preferred. Maintains a high degree of credibility, independence, integrity, confidentiality and trust. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential. Ability to speak professionally in front of large and small groups. Commands the respect of the senior management, board level committees and other members of the compliance team. Strives to develop partnerships, teamwork and good working relationships. Maintains an open management style. Understands the complexities of a large organization. Involves others appropriately in consultations and decisions. Have strong analytical skills and an understanding of operational processes and related systems and technology concepts. Able to operate successfully in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment. Demonstrates initiative, self-motivation, practical learning skills, and enthusiasm, and an ability to complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner. Specific experience with regulatory issues and medical record documentation is desirable. Consistent record of designing and implementing efficient and effective policies, procedures and monitoring systems. Must practice critical thinking skills, demonstrate good judgment and discretion in dealing with patients, visitors, physicians and staff.
