General Counsel Duties: Provide clear legal advice and practical, business-focused solutions, enabling Hospital to achieve its objectives while preserving and protecting the organization's integrity and reputation and mitigating legal risk. Oversee the development, negotiation and timely execution of contracts with physicians, insurers and other healthcare operations business partners. Serve as a general legal resource to senior management for matters including, but not limited to, human resources, regulation compliance, contract law, litigation, intellectual property and corporate secretary functions. Advise and be a key thought partner to the President/CEO and other executives on issues involving mergers and acquisitions, suppliers and government agencies and regulators. Assume ultimate responsibility for ensuring that Hospital conducts its business in compliance with federal and state healthcare laws and regulations (Stark Laws, federal Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Civil Monetary Penalty Statute, HIPAA and state health records privacy matters, and federal healthcare program requirements, including the Medicare and Medicaid programs). Ensure that Hospital is well represented in the resolution of disputes through litigation or other means, as appropriate; select and manage the use of outside legal counsel as required. Monitor and maintain general awareness of pending legislation/regulation that is relevant to GVH's business interests (accreditation, licensure, medical staff, credentialing, patient care, risk management, bioethical and healthcare provider/plan issues). Develop, provide guidance and implement legal strategies, best practices, and policies and procedures consistent with Hospital's business objectives. Review advertising and marketing materials to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Law degree from an accredited law school. Licensed member, in good standing, of the Pennsylvania Bar. 8-10 years legal experience with significant depth in healthcare contracts, litigation management, human resources issues and mergers/acquisitions in a healthcare services environment. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various levels of the leadership team in developing and executing the strategic plan. Track record of successful job performance and progression.
