Associate General Counsel Duties: Assists General Counsel with daily activities including providing legal consultation and advice regarding legal matters, complex transactions, and regulatory issues; receiving and directing legal, compliance and risk concerns to appropriate parties for resolution; initiating communications regarding changes to the regulatory and legal landscape; developing and revising policies and procedures; and assisting GC with ensuring the Board of Directors, management and the workforce achieve high levels of compliance with the law and with company's policies while supporting company's mission. Associate Counsel will also be responsible for ensuring that all employment contracts with health care providers and others, independent contractor arrangements, leases and equipment contracts, third party vendor contracts, and contracts regarding mergers and acquisitions comply with all applicable laws and regulations and with company's policies; are submitted with supporting documentation to meet federal and state requirements and company's policy; and that contracts and supporting documentation are timely entered appropriately into the contract management system. Provides general assistance to GC on various legal matters. Responds to legal, operational and compliance questions and concerns and conducts legal research to respond to legal questions. Assists GC with responding to all requests for counsel and managing relationships with outside counsel. Provides legal analysis on a variety of health law issues, compliance matters and other regulatory requirements. Interprets governmental regulations and statutes and provides legal oversight to the development, implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures. Monitors and reports on changing federal and state health care laws and regulations and industry guidelines. Assists with development and updating of various company's policies. Responsible for monitoring all reported Conflicts of Interest and Nonmonetary Physician Compensation. Prepares, reviews and revises contracts and establishes guidelines and processes for contract development, negotiation, and renewal, with particular attention to federal and state laws. Works with company's medical group in support of physician employment and contracting for professional services, fair market value analysis, etc. Works with Risk Management to ensure provisions are made for Certificates of Insurance as appropriate. Provides counsel and advice on legal matters involving contracts and contracting issues and responds to questions regarding contracts. Attends meetings of the Medical Staff Committees; CMG Board and CMG Board Committees, as directed by General Counsel. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Qualification Requirements: A Juris Doctorate degree and membership in the Virginia Bar and an outstanding record of achievement with 8+ years of legal experience with healthcare law. Ability to work independently and to interact with colleagues at all levels in the organization. Knowledge of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations. Ability to influence with credibility, analysis and judgment. Ability to prioritize tasks while managing multiple projects with various deadlines. Excellent proofreading and editing skills. Experience using Microsoft applications, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
