Compliance Manager The candidate will manages all compliance activities including development, implementation and monitoring of the compliance program and policies/procedures to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. Will directs investigations, external audits and corrective actions associated with intermediary repayments, voluntary disclosure to government entities and corporate integrity agreements initiated externally by fiscal intermediaries and other governmental entities. Designs and performs patient registration, medical record, patient billing and other compliance audits to verify accuracy of departmental information and compliance with established practices, policies and regulations. Facilities audits conducted by contractors or outside agencies. Represents hospital on any Akron Regional Hospital Association (ARHA) Compliance matters. Communicates Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) activities and outcomes to executive and senior management and engages them and Board members in activities as appropriate. Informs senior management of Government regulatory changes, Officer of Inspector General (OIG) activities, Ohio Hospital Association activities at the state level and Akron Regional Hospital Association activities at the local level. Prepares agendas, presentations, and produces reports for the hospital compliance committee and Board of Managers as requested. .Performs staff functions for quarterly hospital compliance committee meetings. Participates in monthly compliance related committees such as Revenue Cycle, HIPAA Privacy and Security, and others as needed. Serve on inter-disciplinary committees involved in the implementation of other hospital compliance initiatives. Researches and disseminates current compliance information both proactively to keep abreast of changes and in response to requests. Researches and responds to compliance hotline calls in addition to any other compliance concerns/allegations. Facilitates operations department responses to inquires and requirements of governmental and outside agencies. Designs and conducts training on hospital/individual physician practices compliance issues. Assists departments in developing standards of conduct and policies/procedures to promote compliance with state and federal regulations. Promotes ownership and accountability for regulatory compliance with operations departments/individual physician practices. Suggests process redesign with operations departments that will result in regulatory compliance. Advises operations departments/individual physician practices about information system utilization to meet regulatory requirements. Advises department management with implementing automated auditing reports and manual monitoring mechanisms to assure compliance with regulations.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Information/Administration or Clinical Discipline required. Law degree may be substituted for specified Bachelor’s degrees. Certification in Healthcare Compliance preferred. Should have 3+ years of general/patient accounting, medical records, healthcare administration, clinical or legal experience in a healthcare-provider environment. General knowledge of healthcare information systems including scheduling, patient registration, clinical, medical records, patient billing and general accounting.
