Legislative and Regulatory Counsel The candidate drafts legislation and proposed amendments to legislation, provides advocacy papers, legal analysis and other materials. Prepares responses to federal rulemaking and represents in the executive branch, and helps formulate regulatory goals. Conducts research and gathers technical information to address federal legislative issues, and monitors and provides legal analysis of federal and state law, legislation and regulation that potentially impacts psychology practice. Responds to state psychological association and member inquiries on federal legislation. As regulatory counsel, conducts research and gathers technical information and responds to member inquiries regarding federal regulatory initiatives, assists members with Medicare issues, and when appropriate, coordinates with the Office of Healthcare Financing on coding or reimbursement issues. Serves as “junior” lobbyist to advocate on legislative issues in Congress under direction of Associate Executive Director and in consultation with Directors of Congressional Affairs. Prepares testimony, communications to Congress, advocacy and informational materials. Represents / with other healthcare provider and consumer groups, and before governance and membership. Should have Juris doctor degree. Substantial experience working in a legislative, regulatory or legal environment is essential. Should be advanced user: Legal research applications. User: MS Office.
