Commercial/Product Counsel, Healthcare Vertical The candidate will be covering a mixed portfolio of work, including commercial transactions, health related product guidance, and working with product, engineering, and research teams dedicated to making company’s Cloud Platform the best public cloud for digital healthcare. Work closely with a team of lawyers, engineers, researchers and product folks dedicated to the same task. Provide advice, legal direction, and training on laws and regulations related to the development and commercialization of health technologies, including privacy, product liability, HIPAA and the HITECH Act, and FDA matters. Review, draft, and manage licenses, strategic alliance agreements, and intellectual property agreements with potential partners in compliance with applicable law. Manage agreements that comply with company policies, risk tolerance and applicable law. Develop and maintain legal resources that are required for products, such as terms of service, privacy notices and other disclosures. Advise internal stakeholders such as Business Development, Sales, Product, Engineering, and Finance on the legal issues and risks, approval processes, company policies and procedures, IP and business strategy.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must be admitted to the bar in which position is located and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located. Must have 8+ years of related attorney level experience. Experience handling healthcare issues is a must. Experience in FDA regulations and the laws and regulations that govern clinical research preferred. Relevant legal experience in a law firm with a nationally recognized FDA or healthcare practice or in-house legal department of a healthcare company. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage high volume of requests, and an eagerness to take on cutting edge legal issues in the healthcare field, and to learn. Strong oral and written communication skills required.
