ProfileSenior Privacy Manager The candidate will directly report to the company Medical-Surgical Chief Compliance Officer and organize key initiatives and activities related to the development and implementation of privacy training, procedures, monitoring, controls, risk mitigation planning and other privacy program elements within company Medical-Surgical, in compliance with relevant privacy laws and company's information privacy practices. Support the development and communication of privacy procedures, guidelines and training in coordination with Global Compliance and Ethics, the Global Privacy Office, and legal counsel. Manages the process for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating, and taking action on incidents and complaints concerning company Medical-Surgical’s privacy policies and procedures in coordination and collaboration with other similar functions and, when necessary, legal counsel. Assist with the creation and delivery of initial and periodic privacy-related orientation and education to company Medical-Surgical employees, workforce, and appropriate third parties. Assist with the performance of initial and periodic privacy risk assessments and conduct ongoing compliance monitoring activities, and supporting relevant departments (e.g. IT Management, Global Privacy Office, Human Resources, product and service development, etc.) and corporate initiatives in establishing/improving privacy processes resulting from risk assessment and monitoring activities. Work with key partners to ensure coordination of activities and alignment between security and privacy programs, particularly around data incidents involving personal information.
Qualification and Experience
A MS degree preferred or 4-year degree or equivalent experience. Juris Doctorate preferred. Must have 5+ years of privacy experience. Desired backgrounds include healthcare, Medicare supplier/provider, consumer businesses or medical products. Should have specialized knowledge of federal and state privacy and security laws, including HIPAA/HITECH. Must have experience providing guidance on the effective development and implementation of privacy controls. Should have ability to draft policy documents and translate regulatory requirements into practical and actionable elements while supporting business strategy. Experience preferred: Health care provider experience. Experience with secondary use of data. Leading the creation and delivery of periodic training. Experience working in or with IT or IT Security departments. Must have experience in performing privacy risk assessments and ongoing privacy compliance monitoring activities. Should have excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills at all levels within a large corporation. Must have strong analytical skills.
