ProfileAssociate General Counsel Responsibilities : The candidate will provide support to senior transaction and regulatory attorneys and coordinate to meet deadlines through appropriate planning and communication. Independently manage select work and exercise appropriate judgment regarding when to seek assistance from more senior attorney. Draft, negotiate and provide assistance on a wide-range of physician and healthcare contracts and business transactions. Research, analyze and provide assistance on a wide-range of regulatory compliance issues, including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, fraud and abuse and business unit specific regulatory requirements. Provide timely, succinct and practical legal advice and work product. Keep apprised of important changes in healthcare transaction and regulatory laws. Identify legal risks and develop strategies for risk mitigation. Demonstrate excellent judgment and critical thinking. Other duties as assigned by General Counsel or Director, Corporate Health Law.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements : The candidate should have excellent academic credentials and Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in Minnesota, or licensed in another jurisdiction with the ability to become licensed in Minnesota within one year. 2-4 years of experience in healthcare transactional and regulatory law. Substantive knowledge of the Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and experience with a variety of physician contracting and health care regulatory compliance matters. Additional experience advising in one or more of the following areas is preferred: intellectual property (copyright, trademark, licensing), complex transactions (mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and affiliations), non-profit organizations and charitable foundations, payor contracting, clinical research, post-acute care, mental health or pharmacy. Excellent research, writing, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to think strategically. Strong interpersonal skills, a good attitude and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to manage numerous competing priorities and tasks with grace, and succeed in a challenging and fast paced environment. Ability and willingness to handle transaction and regulatory work in a variety of substantive areas and to learn new areas quickly.
