Associate General Counsel Duties: Provide legal advice and direction on a wide range of topics related to the business and operations of the organization. Serve as primary counsel and business partner to multi-specialty physician group as well as its outpatient, ambulatory businesses (e.g., imaging, urgent care, physical therapy, retail products, telemedicine, executive health services, international medicine, etc.). Serve as primary counsel with respect to all physician-related arrangements for Inova’s hospitals and facilities, including hospital-based physician agreements, physician recruitment agreements, coverage agreements, professional service agreements, co-management agreements, employment agreements, and facility use agreements. Advise on health care regulatory compliance, reimbursement, tax-exemption, intellectual property, antitrust, and general corporate matters. Provide general legal support for various corporate service areas, such as Marketing, Communications, Finance, and Accounting. Draft, review, and negotiate general service agreements and affiliation agreements, identify and analyze new or emerging areas of risk, and manage or provide support with respect to general legal matters. In these roles, this position will be expected to advise on a wide range of legal topics and contribute with respect to related operational decisions, including applicable health regulatory requirements, contractual issues, risk management matters, and related business considerations.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited law school. Must be a member in good standing with a state Bar. Must have 5-8 years of significant health care legal and regulatory experience, with a particular preference for substantial transactional experience relating to physician practice acquisitions and ambulatory health care services. Deep understanding of the Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, CMP Law, and related health care regulations. Significant merger, acquisition and joint venture experience in the healthcare field Demonstrable business acumen. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent analytical, research and negotiation skills. The ability to work with and influence senior leaders and other members of management. Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex organization and to manage competing priorities. Strong client relations skills. Ability to work successfully both independently and within a team.
