Chief Compliance Officer The candidate will develop, implement, and oversee policies, programs, and practices to ensure the health system is in compliance with federal, state, and/or local regulations and accreditation standards. Monitor applicable laws, regulations, and standards which may impact the organization. Consult on an on-going basis regarding related issues with all levels of management throughout the company. Oversee the design and implementation of the policies and procedures for the health system and HIPAA privacy/compliance programs. Develop a Health System compliance risk model and a risk rating process based on current compliance efforts. Represent the Health System during compliance investigations. Provide consultation to department managers and executive staff members regarding respective compliance issues. Develop and implement innovative and constructive alternatives to sub-standard processes in order to bring them into compliance. Research and obtain factual evidence to support recommendations/solutions regarding operational control deficiencies. Exercise sound judgement in the use of information obtained during the course of assigned duties to ensure that confidential information is not utilized to the detriment of the health system. Keep abreast of all changes in accreditation and regulatory laws, policies, procedures and standards and initiates the process of updating departments through inter-office communication and in-services in preparation of anticipated affects. Develop a monitoring system to track compliance initiatives in audits and the results of regulatory and compliance reports. Review proposed administrative policies and procedures for completeness, effectiveness and adequacy of controls. Directly supervise members of the compliance department. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University required. JD or a Masters preferred. 10+ years of Compliance and or Health Care experience required. Certification from the Compliance Board and/or the Health Care Compliance Association required. Working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards as they relate to the various governing bodies, to include Joint Commission, OSHA, and ADA and solid knowledge of healthcare law, particularly healthcare billing and reimbursement required. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication and presentation skills; proficiency with report writing required. Excellent planning, organizational, analytic and project management skills required. Proficient with Word, Excel and other software required.
