Risk Manager, Risk Management - Part time Duties: Responsible for identifying potential losses to the organization; for developing and maintaining appropriate loss prevention programs and strategies, and for the management of loss exposures to minimize the economic impact to patients and the organization. Responsible for risk identification, evaluation, reporting and loss control, including compliance with applicable governmental and professional standards. Coordinates with the captive insurance program in the identification and processing of potential claims, claims and lawsuits brought against company entities and hospital-based and community-based practitioners insured by the program. Serves as an expert resource to providers in the management, investigation and response to adverse events. Investigates and analyzes actual and potential risks, assesses professional and general liability and probability of legal action; recommends appropriate actions to minimize the risk. Prepares and submits required reports to state and federal agencies and, when applicable, coordinates external agency investigations. Develops and presents educational programs to medical, professional and technical staff on issues of professional liability. Assists defense counsel in discovery and trial preparation. Manages inquiries from investigators and law enforcement personnel.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: BS or BA in a health-related field or equivalent experience required. Masters or J.D. degree strongly preferred. Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred. Previous healthcare risk management or professional liability experience preferred. Nursing experience preferred. Related healthcare experience considered. Associate in Risk Management (ARM) preferred.
