HR Lead Investigator Duties: Reporting to the Director of Labor Relations provides advice, support, and resolution to Managers, HR Leadership Team, and Executive Leaders on a broad range of escalated employment issues including HR investigations, HR policy interpretation, disciplinary performance management, and resolution of employment-related disputes. Through investigations will identify risks of non-compliance with HR policies, procedures and best practices, and will recommend appropriate remedial action to address concerns. Develop standardized investigation process, including determining issues appropriate for escalation, documentation, and work flow. Utilize HR case management tool to log, track and manage Employee Relations cases, and to report identified trends and problem areas. Primary investigator of all employee relations matters involving or related to harassment, discrimination, hostile work environment, retaliation, safety, and workplace violence. Assist HR Employee Relations with internal investigations involving violations of HR policies, procedures, and practices. Investigate labor grievances filed at Step 1, 2 and 3 in the negotiated grievance process. Provide prompt recommendations on effective remedial action to address employee relations matters that will minimize legal exposure and is consistent with the organization's policies, procedures, best practices, and applicable labor agreements. Support managers in conducting disciplinary meetings, warnings, terminations. Prepare and maintain related documentation. Facilitate the flow of information and ensure appropriate parties are kept up-to-date while maintaining the utmost confidentiality regarding Employee Relations issues. Interpret and provides guidance on Human Resources policies and procedures. Provide training support on a variety of Employee Relations subjects, as required. Keep abreast of all state and federal employment laws, rules, and regulations. Assist with the execution of HR compliance programs, internal audits, and government audits. Support "ONE HR" culture and mutual accountability and respect within HR team.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent required. BS/BA Degree required. Master's in Business Administration or Human Resources required. JD Degree or PhD/EdD/DBA in Human Resources related discipline or field of research required. PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP required. 7+ years of HR experience with a heavy emphasis in employee relations investigations required. Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor and employment laws and regulations required. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required. GPHR preferred. HR experience in Health Care preferred. Experience in employment and labor law preferred. Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and judgment while working collaboratively with others required. Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of management and employees required. Technically proficient in Microsoft Office Suite systems including, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
