Profile

Regulatory Attorney Duties: Work closely with existing Legal and Compliance staff to provide comprehensive support for a multi-state / multi-lender mortgage lending and servicing platform. Monitor, review and analyze existing and proposed state and local laws and regulations.. Provide support to all areas of the company to interpret compliance obligations as applicable (state, federal, investor, etc.). Maintain competence in consumer protection laws and regulations governing residential mortgage activities, including TILA, RESPA, FDCPA, ECOA, FCRA and other applicable law and rules. Advise senior management of compliance risks related to regulatory issues and coordinate with cross-functional business teams to devise practical solutions.. Provide legal support for regulatory examinations. Provide support for responses to customer/regulatory complaints.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited law school. Must be a member in good standing of a state Bar association eligible for in-house counsel registration, if required. 6 years mortgage originations and/or servicing experience required. Excellent oral presentation skills as well as, written, cross functional and interpersonal communication skills that are appropriate for various levels, including senior management and staff. Able to work independently in an unstructured environment. Strong problem solver and planner with organization and analytical ability. Ability to handle multiple priorities while delivering a high level of customer service. Regulated financial institution experience in a multi-state setting preferred. Must pass PHH Corporation’s Background Screening process prior to beginning employment. May be required to pass client-specific background check requirements or Federal/State licensing requirements, if applicable.
