Licensure Consultant Duties: Plays a critical role in helping graduates achieve the professional credentials needed to work in their field. Subject matter experts on professional licensing laws and regulations, the role has independent decision-making authority for a specific team function. Advocate for licensure related programs among licensing boards and other external stakeholders. Provides advice, counsel and support services to all academic and business departments within University, as well as to learners, prospective learners and alumni. Research and analysis of state laws, regulations and professional requirements for a variety of licenses and certifications in all U.S. and some international jurisdictions. Counsel and support academic and business leadership, faculty, staff, learners, prospective learners, and alumni on professional licensure and certification related issues. This includes identifying and analyzing risks and opportunities, developing practices and procedures used to evaluate and control risk, and ensuring compliance with internal controls. Ownership of a significant team function (e.g. graduate verification for licensure, new products evaluation, or other high-priority ongoing projects) that includes collaboration and partnership among various internal departments/teams. Serve as subject matter expert on cross-functional teams working to resolve licensure and certification related issues impacting the university. Advocate, negotiate and effectively communicate with state licensing boards and departments of education on behalf of University and its learners and alumni on professional licensure issues; support and advise university leadership in communications with state licensing boards and departments of education. Represent at licensing board and agency meetings. Other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree or JD Degree strongly preferred. 3-5 years professional experience in a regulatory research, legislative or legal compliance function. Relevant experience includes previous roles requiring research and interpretation of laws and regulations. Experience working in an academic or educational setting preferred. Experience communicating with state education departments and state licensing boards a plus. Strong research background and reading comprehension skills. Strong analytical ability - including issue identification, risk analysis and creative problem solving. Demonstrated attention to detail, initiative and follow-through. Proven ability to work under limited supervision and exercise independent judgment and initiative. Excellent relationship-building, customer service, and problem resolution skills. Ability to interact effectively with staff and leadership at multiple levels of the organization. Excellent verbal and written communication, investigation and listening skills. Demonstrated ability to manage/coordinate multiple projects and successfully prioritize multiple tasks with good judgment and in an effective and productive manner. Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn other key software applications.
