Associate General Counsel The candidate will work with diverse client team to review, interpret and provide implementation guidance on federal and state regulations. Play a lead role in supporting implementation of accountable care, care coordination and value based programs. Advise staff on commercial and governmental payor contracting and reimbursement matters. Counsel staff on federal fraud and abuse laws (e.g., False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, etc.). Serve as the Hospital’s representative for legal affairs to a variety of outside institutions, companies and regulatory agencies. Represent Office of General Counsel on various committees as requested. Draft and negotiate agreements, policies and guidelines. Work as a member of a cross-functional legal office and supports work in other areas as may be requested by the General Counsel, including a minimum of twice a year participation in OGC team coverage of off-hour emergency matters. Develop and conduct training and education programs for staff. Completion of a law degree and 10+ years of related interdisciplinary experience required. The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in‑depth, experienced‑based cross‑functional knowledge required. Advanced interpersonal/communication skills to represent the hospital in legal proceedings, negotiate in extremely important and sensitive situations, persuade members of the Executive Management Group on issues and programs that impact assigned department, represent the Hospital to external parties, or perform other duties requiring a comparable level of communication skills required. Academic medical center and industry experience, knowledge of corporate and non-profit law, and knowledge of health care regulatory framework including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act are all preferred.
