Senior Director Compliance, Global Clinical Development Responsibilities: Serve as the primary Compliance lead for the Global Clinical Development (GCD) operating group. Assess GCD compliance needs and develop, present and steward the enactment of a comprehensive global plan to ensure GCD operational activities remain compliant to applicable corporate, global and local requirements/standards. Develop and assume direct responsibility for global anticorruption and third-party compliance programs to ensure compliance with US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, UK Bribery Act and other applicable global anticorruption laws and regulations. Ensure that GCD compliance activities leverage existing internal operating procedures and where needed develop and institute written policies and procedures, training and education, communication and monitoring for the designated areas in coordination with Corporate Compliance and Ethics function. Set tone of a values-based compliance culture through communication and training initiatives in the designated areas (i.e., GCD and appropriate Third-Parties). Proactively identify risks in all aspects of the designated areas’ strategy and activities and develop, present and enact support activities to ensure compliance needs are thoroughly addressed. Provide sound advice to senior leaders within the business on risk associated with current and emerging business strategies and suggest and help institute practical options to mitigate risk. Serve as the point-of-contact for GCD on all compliance-related matters. Provide routine updates on areas of responsibility to firm’s Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer and other appropriate key stakeholders. Proactively identify and communicate significant issues (present or emerging) that may require possible escalation to the Risk Management, Corporate Compliance Committee, firm’s Board of Directors Global Compliance Committee as determined by the seriousness of the issue in full concurrence with the Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer. Identify, report and manage relevant metrics to raise awareness of compliance activities and proactively address negative trends. Serve as the Compliance representative on various committees including the Educational Grant Committee and the Scientific Review Committee. Serve as primary liaison on all compliance matters to GCD’s leadership team and Legal Affairs Department in full partnership with the Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer. May support other areas of the business and perform other duties deemed appropriate to support the Compliance needs of the company and its affiliates.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: J.D. degree or advanced scientific or business/finance degree. 5 - 7 years’ relevant experience. Demonstrated experience in a compliance role at a pharmaceutical, biotech or consulting firm. Broad understanding and knowledge of global clinical development and medical affairs activities and the risks facing these organizations. A thorough understanding of global anticorruption laws and regulations as well as practical approaches to risk mitigation. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Requires ability to use a personal computer for extended periods of time.
