Profile

Senior Compliance Analyst Duties: Get products, licenses and other materials filed and approved with appropriate government agencies, when necessary, so products can be taken to market or services can be performed. Advise the business on the impact of changes in laws or regulations affecting the business or its products/services and provide input into action plans that mitigate risk. Research and respond to compliance inquiries and research requests from business units. Develop strong, collaborative relationships between Compliance and business partners, as well as government agencies. Implement departmental policies and procedures, and make policy and procedure recommendations to improve overall compliance program. Provide new ideas for workflow improvements that result in better customer satisfaction, reduced costs, and increased efficiencies. With minimal managerial oversight perform compliance on insurance contracts and submit filings to the DOI in accordance with business objectives and expected priorities. Thoroughly research filing objections, providing viable solutions to the business areas, including arguments to support Company position when appropriate. Respond to the DOI within required deadline. With minimal managerial oversight review assigned legislative summaries and determine if actions need to be taken within requisite timeframes. Participate in business area meetings to determine the impact to their business, answer questions, enabling them to develop and implement an action plan. With minimal managerial oversight review and respond to inquiries, as it relates to business and regulatory needs, within the agreed upon completion date developed with the business area. Provide an easily understandable response, which includes options and potential risk for business area when appropriate. As part of research efforts, consult with business area to fully understand their business objective and need for regulatory guidance. With minimal managerial oversight support and ability to lead projects, including but not limited to regulatory research projects, that meet business area objectives. Understand project objectives, and provide regulatory guidance, within the assigned project due date. Attend and actively participate in meetings; facilitate small group discussions; create agendas; document meeting discussion, decisions and outstanding tasks; compose a wide range of written communications internally and externally using appropriate grammar and spelling.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Legal education (JD or paralegal certificate) a plus. 3+ years of work experience in a regulatory environment, preferably in insurance or health plan administration, or equivalent legal education. Prior experience reading contracts, statutes and regulations and comprehending key points/implications for the business with minimal managerial oversight. Understands financial practices of the insurance industry and can uncover implications of regulatory changes on business processes and drivers and make recommendations for process change or improvement with some managerial oversight. Ability to actively listen, embrace team decisions and help resolve obstacles constructively. Provide advice, ideas, formulate solutions/proposals and secure agreement with client on issues of simple to moderate complexity with some managerial oversight. Ability to analyze situations and critically think about information and data to draw appropriate conclusions. Ability to summarize regulatory concepts and findings (primarily insurance-related) into business-friendly terms. Ability to understand existing company and division policy and processes. Takes initiative to make policy and procedure recommendations; documents existing procedures or revises existing materials for departmental use. Proactive and shows initiative. Basic knowledge of MS Office products and ability to learn software applications. Ability to learn quickly while operating in a self-directed environment.
