Non Federal Compliance Manager - Political Law The candidate will manage the state non-federal campaign finance registration and reporting for corporate and political clients. Will serve as the subject matter expert regarding non-federal and campaign finance-related compliance issues for external clients. Manage and supervise staff on technical non-federal campaign finance compliance issues. Manage state campaign finance compliance function and workflow, ensuring that registrations, renewals, terminations and periodic disclosure reports are accurate and timely filed in accordance with jurisdictional requirements (monthly, bi-monthly, semiannual, annual deadlines, and other deadlines as needed). Communicate regularly with external clients regarding filing deadlines and disclosure requirements. Prepare, submit and/or maintain state campaign finance registrations, amendments, terminations and periodic disclosure reports. Review state reports and documents prepared by clients; train clients on relevant compliance laws, rules, regulations and reporting processes and procedures. Serve as a central point of contact for state compliance-related inquiries. Consult and advise up to the point of legal advice regarding non-federal compliance issues, triggers for registration and reporting obligations, disclosure requirements, and reporting processes and procedures. Research laws, rules and regulations as necessary and coordinate legal response as requested or required. Review client-provided materials. Interpret information regarding clients' income or expenditures, policies and procedures, and non-federal activities with reference to various jurisdictional disclosure requirements and advice regarding compliance issues. Create generic and client-tailored jurisdiction-specific communications for compliance purposes, including managing registration and reporting obligations, soliciting data for disclosure reports and supporting certifications/verifications. Train clients on reporting systems, processes and procedures. Monitor developments in state regarding laws, rules, regulations and procedures. Prepare and disseminate Client Alerts highlighting relevant changes. Provide administrative support to PLG attorneys, researching relevant laws, rules and regulations; coordinate legal responses as requested; and prepare and update drafts of legal memos and documents. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree (J.D. is preferred). Must have 5+ years of non-federal compliance experience, or equivalent. Should have extensive experience producing state campaign finance disclosure reports. Should preferably have superior knowledge and understanding of state and local campaign finance laws and related regulations.
