Compliance / Audit Letter Attorney Duties: Under the supervision and support of the Office of the General Counsel, will be responsible for providing support to the Assistant General Counsel (Compliance/Audit Letters), Audit Letter Review Committee (ALRC), and Compliance Review Committee in support of the firm’s compliance protocols. Will work closely with the firm’s Office of the General Counsel, ALRC, firm attorneys, other levels of firm administration, and other members of the Audit Letter department. Review audit response letters, consult with Assistant General Counsel and responsible partners, counsel, and ALRC members, as necessary; Review disclosures within audit response letters and offer comment to firm attorneys in support of the firm’s practices and policies; Identify compliance issues within audit letter requests, escalate as necessary, and develop/recommend course of action Stay abreast of, and report to the ALRC members, changes in the ABA Statement of Policy and related positions and commentaries of the legal and accounting professions that apply to the area of audit letter compliance; Assist with training of lawyers and assistants regarding audit response letter policies, practices, and procedures and assist in preparing training materials; Assist with educating firm lawyers and business services employees regarding firm policies where compliance is required, and the procedures in place to ensure such compliance (including maintaining the audit letter-related compliance materials and database); Recommend and assist in implementing improvements in audit response letter procedures and forms, and assist in preparing guidelines for firm lawyers and business services employees; All members of the firm are encouraged to participate in our Global Citizenship program; and Additional responsibilities as required.
Qualification and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: JD Degree required, with active membership and good standing in at least one Bar. Law firm experience required. Understanding of audit letters and relevant accounting principles preferred. Analytical reasoning ability is essential. Must have excellent analytical, written, organizational, and research skills. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels of lawyers and business services employees. Strict attention to detail and excellent writing skills are a must. Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through with issues in order to meet critical deadlines and maintain compliance objectives while working under pressure in a demanding environment.
