Senior Compliance and Privacy Specialist The candidate will provides professional services in support of compliance program objectives including: conducting audits, special reviews and investigations, risk analysis and monitoring, education and training and breach response and prevention. Assists the Chief Compliance Officer and Privacy Officer in implementing Health System's compliance plan, with a particular focus on regulatory and privacy issues. Serves as an organization-wide resource for and authority on issues related to health information privacy. Develops and provides training for new employees and on-going education of all employees relating to privacy matters. Assists the Compliance Department and the Office of General Counsel's office with health care regulatory matters, such as those related to fraud and abuse, anti-kickback and Stark law issues. Identifies compliance and privacy related risk areas and conducting audits of such risk areas, and making recommendations based upon audit findings. Keeps current on all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Reviews and develops departmental and organizational policies that promote compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Engages in special investigations in response to external requests for records and audits.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree from law school required. 1-3 years of work-related experience in health care law and regulatory matters. Healthcare Compliance Certification (CHC) or other compliance certification strongly preferred. Working knowledge of the Office of Inspector. General annual work plan and CMS regulations. Strong skills in negotiating, relationship building, problem solving, and timely problem escalation. Experience with implementing the seven elements of an effective compliance program for hospitals. Strong understanding of Office of Inspector General and Office of Civil Rights guidance/guidelines for hospital compliance programs. Maintains working knowledge of new federal laws, regulations and guidelines, Elliot Health System policies and procedures, applicable to Elliot Health System areas. Ability to communicate effectively.
