Assistant Counsel Responsibilities: Assist in development of standard document templates, review and approve non-standard terms. Ongoing training of contracts staff in job-specific tasks and other company employees in areas of confidentiality, antitrust regulations, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and other company compliance policies and procedures. Experience with intellectual property rights and government contracts is a plus. Emphasis is on providing general legal support for supply chain while striving to establish symmetry between customer and supplier contracts. Handle various other activities and assignments, as appropriate. Support dispute investigation, resolution and litigation, as necessary, including managing outside counsel.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school and member in good-standing of the California Bar. A member in good-standing in at least one state in which the company does business and qualify for California’s Registered In-House Counsel Program. Should have 4-6 years of relevant legal experience, with specific experience in negotiating and reviewing commercial contracts and resolving disputes. Aerospace and defense experience is a strong plus. Must be detail-oriented, efficient and resourceful. A self-starter who can work independently under general supervision. Must be business-oriented, flexible and open-minded. Demonstrates outstanding judgment concerning business impact of various legal alternatives. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees and management. Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks while working in a team environment. Must be able to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
