Profile

Principal, Legal - Global Compliance, Investigation and Litigation Duties: Reports to the Director, Global Compliance, Investigations & Litigation (who in turn is a direct report to the General Counsel). Oversee Corporate’s worldwide litigation docket, leading and directing internal investigations, and providing advice and counsel to the business on legal and regulatory compliance requirements applicable to worldwide operations. Supervising and/or conducting internal investigations; responding to investigations by government entities including the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and other federal and state agencies; addressing audits initiated by the Defense Contractor Auditing Agency (DCAA), Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), and other entities on government contracts; providing legal advice to Ethics and Compliance Office regarding regulatory compliance and Code of Business Conduct issues; supervising external counsel in litigation filed; supervising the legal hold and e-discovery process; and preparing voluntary or mandatory disclosures under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). Exhibit both tactical and strategic leadership strengths, will have an outgoing, collaborative personality, and will take initiative to make things happen. Will be strong in the face of adversity and persistent as an effective advocate of corporate ethics and compliance principles.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school; member in good standing of a state Bar (must be eligible for corporate counsel status in Virginia State Bar); proficient in investigations and litigation gained through 3-5 years of experience in private practice, government agency enforcement or prosecution, in-house, or a combination thereof; deep expertise in civil litigation, investigative techniques, and electronic discovery rules and methods; knowledge or familiarity with regulatory compliance issues including, for example, FCPA, ITAR/EAR, HIPAA, and EU Data Privacy Directive. Hands-on investigations and litigation experience. Must be detailed and process oriented, enjoy being challenged by a complex global organization, and demonstrate sound, pragmatic judgment in ambiguous situations. An expert user of the Microsoft Office suite of software beyond Word, able to use Excel, PowerPoint, and Access proficiently to draft memoranda, correspondence, and business plans, present ideas, and analyze/organize data.
