ProfileSenior Counsel, Leasing Duties: Support by managing compliance with, and providing guidance on, federal and state consumer finance, motor vehicle leasing, and financial privacy laws. Research and manage state-by-state registration and licensing requirements for vehicle lessors, dealership and other initiatives and programs. Collaborate with external advisors and internal business partners to identify and assess legal, financial and operational risks pertaining to vehicle leasing activities. Advise on interaction with state and federal regulators, where appropriate. Provide support for examinations and/or investigations.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: State Bar member from California or another state. 5 years experience in a law firm or corporate legal department, government agency or trade association practicing in the area of consumer financial services, preferably supporting vehicle leasing and/or auto finance businesses. Knowledge of federal and state vehicle leasing or auto finance legal issues and industry practices. Expertise in consumer vehicle leasing, auto finance and financial privacy laws (including Consumer Leasing Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Electronic Funds Transfer Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Federal Trade Commission Rules, UDAP and UDAAP). Strong academic credentials and law degree from a top law school. Excellent business judgment, communication and interpersonal skills. A person who likes responsibility and thrives under pressure.
