ProfileAssociate Counsel The candidate will interpret pertinent laws and regulations and provides legal advice and support as needed. Monitor changes in applicable laws and regulations and communicates such changes to Bank management and department personnel. Investigates and evaluates legal issues affecting the Bank and renders sound legal advice to the Bank including senior management, branch personnel, and personnel in other departments. Identifies potential regulatory and legal risks for the Bank and proposes measures to mitigate such risks. Represent the Bank in negotiations with various vendors, groups, agencies, and regulators. Also represent the Bank in hearings and proceedings in state and federal courts and agencies. Draft, review and respond to correspondence, contracts, and documents as needed to resolve various legal issues or problems affecting the Bank. Provide training and consultation to Bank personnel on legal issues. Maintain in-depth knowledge of the Bank's strategic values and objectives. Provide proactive business-oriented advice in a thoughtfully balanced, constructive and sound legal manner. Exhibit highly effective analytical problem solving skills and can identify and address complex legal and business issues. Understand goals and operations of the Bank and can provide creative, practical legal solutions for its regulatory and legal issues. Communicate effectively with other Bank personnel, Bank customers, regulators, and other third parties in person and in other non-face-to-face situations. College degree and Juris Doctor Degree required. 3+ years in the active practice of law sufficient to demonstrate a proficiency in analyzing legal problems and providing sound legal advice and practical legal solutions required. Ability to work, both independently and as part of a team, to meet shifting demands and time-sensitive deadlines required. Excellent presentation and writing skills to conduct training/presentations and compose memos, letters, reports, and other miscellaneous material required.
