Central/South America - Deputy Chief of Party Duties: Support the management of the project, manage program staff and play a major role in promoting program unity, effectiveness, and responsiveness to changing dynamics. Maintain good relationships with USAID Mission and provide effective oversight of project activities. Reports to the Chief of Party and will directly supervise several program staff. Oversee program design, development, and implementation; Plan and carry out regular trips to regional offices to monitor program implementation and provide support; Oversee programmatic reporting efforts and adapt program activities to reflect monitoring and evaluation findings; Maintain close and regular contact with partner organizations to ensure program activities are being implemented effectively and efficiently; Ensure that program implementation is in accordance with USAID regulations and procedures and the specifications determined in the contract; Assume responsibility for representing the program to the donor, all partners, and all other actors in the absence of the COP; Investigate and identify new ways of achieving program efficiencies; Liaise with Headquarters as required on program issues.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field relevant to Crime and Violence Prevention, such as Law, Social Work, Criminal or Juvenile Justice, Public or Business Administration, or Community Development; Demonstrated skills in management, both direct and remote, of a large, diverse staff working in a difficult environment; Demonstrated ability to mentor, guide, and motivate staff; 6 years of experience working on donor-funded programs in a related role and with demonstrated management experience; Experience working in Central and/or South America; Exceptional organizational skills; Flexibility to work in a constantly changing work environment; Excellent speaking, writing, and analytical skills; Considerable experience liaising and coordinating with multiple stakeholders; and Fluent English and Spanish (both written and spoken). Desired: Master’s degree, J.D., or Ph.D., in a related field; and familiarity and experience working with USAID.
